I earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in December 2022 and a Master of Science in Mathematics in May 2024, both from Cal State LA. Although I originally planned to teach at the community college level, my path led me to pursue a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics, which I expect to complete in spring 2027. In this photo, I am pictured with my mentor, Dr. Daphne Liu, in the Mathematics Department conference room on commencement day.

My professional experience has been devoted entirely to education. I began working as a tutor at East Los Angeles College during my final undergraduate semester at Cal State LA and continued throughout my graduate studies. In summer 2023, I taught my first class through East Los Angeles College’s Jaime Escalante Program. After earning my master’s degree, I joined Volunteers of America Los Angeles as a mathematics instructor for its Upward Program for one year. I am currently completing my teaching residency at Woodrow Wilson High School.

During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I researched antimagic labelings of forests. Given a graph with m edges, an antimagic labeling assigns the integers 1 through m to its edges, using each integer exactly once, so that every vertex has a distinct sum of incident edge labels. Some of our results appear in the paper Antimagic Labelings of Forests published in the PUMP journal. Additional results are available here in my master’s thesis.
